What it is
The IP is dedicated to the customer, not to a site: every site of that customer listens on it. The admin marks which addresses configured on the node's network interfaces can be assigned; the node's main address is always the shared one. The web server (Apache, nginx or OpenLiteSpeed) listens on the dedicated address and presents each site's own certificate by SNI, exactly as on the shared address. IPv4 and IPv6 are both supported, one address per family and customer.
What it is for
Selling a dedicated address as an upgrade, keeping a customer's reputation apart from the shared address, and pointing a customer's DNS at an address nobody else uses.
Limits
An address belongs to a single customer at a time. Assigning or removing it moves the customer's A and AAAA records that pointed at the old address; records pointing anywhere else and name-server glue are left alone. If the address disappears from the node, the customer falls back to the shared address and the advisor reports it. It is included in the Free and the License editions.
