How to switch between Apache, nginx and OpenLiteSpeed

How-to Websites and PHP apachenginxopenlitespeedweb serveredge

Change the public edge of a node, check which one is active, and understand the automatic rollback.

Only one process can own ports 80 and 443, so the edge is chosen per node. PHP-FPM and containers always listen on loopback behind it.

Steps

  1. Check the current edge:
    panel stack
  2. Switch to another one (apache, nginx or litespeed):
    panel stack nginx
  3. The panel releases the ports, rewrites the PHP sockets and brings up the new edge.
  4. Open a few sites and check them. If the new edge does not come up, the panel returns to the previous one by itself.

Troubleshooting

  • 502 after a change: run panel stack to confirm which edge is active and look at Services.
  • A service you stopped stays stopped; start it from Services.
  • Combinations such as nginx with Varnish are not selectable from the panel yet.
