How to add a website, an alias and a parked domain
Create a site with its own document root, add alias and parked domain names, and understand where files go and what certificates cover.
Each site is a domain with a document root in the account's home. The first site of an account is served from /home/<client>/public_html; additional ones from /home/<client>/<domain>/public_html, the same convention as CWP and DirectAdmin.
Steps
- Open Websites and create the site with its domain.
- Add aliases for extra names that should serve the same site (for example
www). - Add parked domains for additional names that should show the same content. They are covered by the site's wildcard certificate and never request their own.
- Create subdomains as sites of their own.
- Point the domain's DNS at the node, or let the node serve the zone (see wildcard certificates).
- Upload the files with SFTP, FTP or the file manager into the document root.
From the command line an admin can do the first steps with:
panel cliente-crear acme
panel sitio-crear acme example.com www.example.com
Common problems
- "The plan limit was reached": the plan caps the number of sites, subdomains or parked domains. Delete one or change plan.
- The name is refused: a new site cannot use a name that belongs to another client's domain, zone or subdomain tree, or a name the node reserves for itself.
